Serenity
In Serenity, the figure seems to surrender to the space around her — suspended somewhere between water, cloud, and sky.
There is no urgency here, no need to arrive. The body appears to float within a shifting atmosphere, carried by the same softness that surrounds it. Ruben often explores transformation through movement and elemental forces; in Serenity, transformation comes through release — the quiet act of allowing oneself to simply be.
The painting reflects something deeply familiar to island life: moments when ocean, clouds, light, and horizon seem to dissolve into one another and time itself feels slower. Serenity inhabits that in-between space, where stillness is not emptiness but presence.
