Tranquility
Tranquility turns the sense of stillness inward.
A feminine figure rests within an atmosphere of water, light, and drifting form, appearing neither fully submerged nor completely separate from her surroundings. Rather than moving toward transformation, she seems to have already arrived at a place of quiet equilibrium.
Throughout Ruben's work, figures often emerge, ascend, or move through elemental worlds. Here, the movement has softened. The painting becomes less about becoming something else and more about finding peace within what already exists.
Tranquility reflects the quiet rhythm of Hawaiʻi — the feeling of being held between ocean and sky, where calm can become its own form of awareness.
